Here is a nice article on a local business, Horrell's Furniture, that is celebrating their 50th anniversary in Sharp County.
My wife has purchased items from Horrell's on quite a few occasions, and I'd like to relate one such time. Two years ago, my wife and mother in law were out looking for a used television set to put into a bedroom of one of our rental houses here in Cherokee Village. They found one at Horrell's that they thought would work out well, however they weren't sure if it would fit correctly where it was to go. Mr. Horrell told my wife to take it home and try it out and wouldn't take any money for it until it was what they wanted. He said if it worked out, just come back and pay for it, and if it didn't work out, just bring it back, no harm done. My wife wanted to pay for it, but Mr. Horrell wouldn't hear of it.
Needless to say, the television set worked out fine and my wife decided to keep it, so she came back to the store the next day and paid for it. However in this day and age, that is the type of personal attention and service that can only be found at a small business that really looks out for its customers and truly wants a satisfied customer. To this day, I think of that expeience and how rare that is today.
Congratulations to Horrell's for a job well done!
